The Ravenous Dhampyr
All vampires were created through the machinations of Taa’Zjet, the Lord of Blood before the dawn of the Eidolon. Vampires are his personal creations in an ongoing effort to make the perfect killer, each designed to surpass humanity’s ability and lust for murder. Every vampire line is infused with crimson drops of Taa’Zjet’s own divine blood, Sanguisancre, warping them into a murderous and monstrous multitude of progeny.
Dhampyr were created through rites of blood and shadow no more than 1,500 years ago. As they are derived from vampires and humans, they contain the smallest fraction of Taa’Zjet’s divine blood given in trade or by force to many Gwaredûr genelines. Most often, Tariân lines whose strength and pillar control has waned seek dark deals with the most profane Vampires available in an effort to regain unfettered access to the pillars. In recent history several of the notable Vampire Courts have begun to adopt their Dhampyr offspring into cultish servitude, promising anything their still-beating hearts desire in exchange for undying loyalty.
Dhampyr are created through blood sacrifice or shadowy mysticism in rituals conjured by the greatest warlocks of the vampire courts. The product of the magic is an unliving Gwaredûr with vampiric traits that is able to access the pillars, who are notably able to sire their own offspring and often create entire new castes of unhallowed warriors.
While a Dhampyr’s heart beats with the blood of Taa’Zjet, they are never pure-blooded enough to be true vampires, and rarely human enough to be accepted openly amongst the Tariân. Thus, while they may gain a life as a hero of their mortal ancestry, they are almost always considered the cursed darkling spawn of hubris and folly by the wider world.
The Dhampyr’s need to feed on the blood, flesh, or bones of the living means that regardless of how bigoted their monstrous reputation may be, it is well-earned.
